The use of silhouettes and again the slight shadow that you see when they are photographed brings a fantastic quality to the work of rob ryan. i'd like to use silhouettes, and shadows alot more in my work... and combine the two.
i was really impressed by the john lewis christmas advert and their use of light and shadows
or researching further into this i discovered it was sort of a ripped off idea from the work of artists tim noble and sue webster...
I really like shadows and would love to experiment with them more in my own work. i played around a bit in 2nd year with cardboard cut outs and shadows, and the shadow quality was something that stood out over the cut outs themselves. i must learn how to light my photographs much better!!
thinking about nursery rhymes and poems, i thought about the old woman who lives in a shoe, who is typicially pictured living in an old tatty boot. i wondered who would live in other types of shoes, so i collected pictures pf shoes from magazines and came up with a few ideas.
i experimented and created a few more images through collaging, this was my favourite. it makes me wonder whos watching... is it a giant, or maybe its god? haha
My name is Amy Mac(kay)
I graduated in 2008 in graphic arts and design and wish to base my future in graphics and illustration. My work is seen as quite different, brave and original. I look forward to taking my ideas and style into the industry.
